I joined the firm in 2012, followed by my partner Nick a year later. As such we are a family business, offering financial advice to a wide range of clients, both individual and corporate. We have built our repu- tation and continued success on client referrals, as we believe regular servicing of existing client needs is paramount. Our advice spans all aspects of financial planning, including retirement planning, pension planning, savings and investments, protection, long term care, inheritance tax planning and corporate financial planning. Alongside our financial planning services we also run our own bespoke fund portfolios which have a proven track record of performance since its launch in March 2009. We run eight risk rated portfolios ranging from Cautious to Aggressive, these are then reviewed in terms of asset allocation and fund selection on a quarterly basis and rebalanced. Working in the financial industry can be challenging, and we firmly be- lieve that a company should have clear core values that they can stick to in both good and bad times. To be successful in the industry the firm needs to adapt to changes and be flexible in its approach to the wider industry and not get stuck in the past. With this in mind, our core values, which we have retained since incep- tion, are to ensure that we act with the utmost degree of integrity and professionalism at all times and are open and ethical in everything we do. We also operate a transparent charging structure and put our client’s best interests at the heart of the business, because we believe that professional financial advice can add significant value to individuals and to businesses. It is because of this belief that we are able to offer a comprehensive ongo- ing review service designed to create real value for our clients. Our overall aim is to offer clients a truly professional and friendly ser- vice, making the complex world of financial advice easier to understand. In order to achieve this we use our client’s satisfaction to benchmark our business, so we look for feedback on a constant basis from our new clients and also clients that have been with Corville for over 20 years. We run our own model portfolios which in the current format have been running since March 2009, so we always look to benchmark the perfor- mance of these portfolios against top industry indices. The finance industry in the region is stable at present, but here at Corville we are acutely aware of where the financial adviser of the future will come from. The banks and other large insurance companies have exited the business mainly due to increased legislation and lack of controls. This has led to a shortage of creditable alternatives for people entering the profession and is something that must be addressed. Therefore moving forward we are looking to develop our specialist offering. We are registered Pension specialists and this has developed our business model to enable us to help clients with their final salary pension plans. Following the recent pension changes we have seen an increase in enquiries in this area. This also brings challenges with the increased risk and compliance concerns, but we believe that if you work together with the client and explain both the positives and negatives of every option that individual has, and really understand what is important to that client and match that to the recommendation, this can only reduce the risk and result in a positive client outcome. Alongside this we had a new system built for us last year which makes building our model portfolios and the way clients receive the quarterly information unique to us. We have also built a Cash Flow and Reporting tool which means we can give clients a report at each review, outlining the values and also what these values might be worth based on certain growth rates and ages of the client. This has proved to be a great addi- tion to our business and clients love the simplicity of it. With regards to new projects we are looking towards the possibility of a direct to client offering via our website, which will mean we can reach more clients in a very cost effective way.
