www.wealthandfinance-intl.com 11 in which it operates, has always been an important factor for the Bank. Our flagship CR initiative Projek Bantuan Rumah, a housing aid project, has been ongoing since 2008, and aims to assist impoverished families by providing them with comfortable homes, which is a basic need for every human being. Since its inception, more than RM5.5 million or approximately £1 million has been channelled into this project, making it possible for 213 marginalised families across the country to own a house. “To support financial inclusion, Bank Islam, together with VISA in 2013, introduced the country’s first low-cost mobile point-of-sales (mPOS). Small business owners can enjoy the benefits of electronic payments, and the initiative is aligned with BNM’s aspiration towards a cashless society. Recently Bank Islam has been involved in another collaborative initiative with VISA, which saw the launch of its latest innovative product, an e-donation terminal. This is a platform where donations can be made through a contactless electronic method using any VISA debit- credit card, with payWAVE feature. In addition to this, Bank Islam has continuously instilled a corporate culture where corporate responsibility (CR) becomes an important part of sustainability. “Looking to the future, I would like to see Bank Islam growing from strength to strength, and one day to make a footprint outside Malaysia.”
